There will be three distinct sections within the Ability Day Service, namely

blue bullet    Extended Rehabilitation
This is primarily aimed at those people who have been experienced a change of life circumstance and who require a time limited, focused period of rehabilitation

blue bullet    Personal Development
Clients will, for a time-limited period, require a supported environment which allows them to build their self-esteem.

blue bullet    Quality Maintenance
Clients who have the capacity to participate in, with adequate levels of support, a tailor-made package of opportunities.

Community Links

In order to offer a wider range of opportunities and to enable an increasing number of people to access them the Ability Service will not only provide services and activities, but will support activities already available in the community to enable people with a physical disability to get to them.
Alongside this will be the "local" outreach support network.  There are presently 10 outreach support networks operating in community locations around West Lothian.
The emphasis is on including people in their community, developing their confidence and ability to participate in and access opportunities within West Lothian foe education, sports, leisure, cultural, employment and other community activities.client and an eagle
Links have been developed and strengthened with West Lothian College.  The College has been proactive in developing a course specifically targeted for people with a physical disability.  This had not been possible in the past due to the inaccessibility of the previous building.
