NEWS
2003 European Year of Disabled People
Project grant application forms are now available forms are now available at www.disability.gov.uk under European Year of Disabled People.
As
a result of recent policy changes in the training and learning environment,
including new policies proposed by the Scottish Parliament and Scottish
Executive as well as the Department for Enterprise and Skills.
SCVO has decided to review the way in which it provides training support
to the voluntary sector across Scotland.
SCVO
has also recently undergone a restructuring with a new directorate headed by
Chief Executive, Martin Sime. This
has resulted in the training team becoming part of a wider Development and
Programmes team which includes staff from the West of Scotland and North of
Scotland offices.
In
order to create/broker training opportunities which meet the sector’s needs,
and to research, plan and revise our training services in the future, we are
therefore conducting a survey of sector training needs and provision available
locally. Meanwhile, we are
suspending SCVO short course programme until further notice. As an interim measure we are also investigating other sources
of training relevant to voluntary organisations.
A
comprehensive database of training opportunities is available to all from Learndirect
Scotland – you can phone the free helpline on 0808
100 9000 or access the website at www.learndirectscotland.com.
This new direction requires a positive response from sector and we hope it will be perceived and received in the spirit of genuine collaboration in which it is proposed.
